Local Supporters
Without the help and support of local businesses, we would not be able to accomplish the projects and yearly tasks at hand. The Historical Society would like to thank these partners for their commitment to work together to make South Amboy a city that reflects on its past with an eye to the future! Sadie Pope Dowdell Public Library
Sadie Pope Dowdell Public Library is a great partner to the Historical Society of South Amboy and a wonderful resource to the City. The various projects and programs the Society runs, require hours of research and support. The library is able to support the Society by supplying information and access to their archives. They received a grant to digitize the newspapers, which allows anyone to conduct research right from home!

Christ Episcopal Church
With a congregation that was founded in 1830, and the church which was constructed in 1858, Christ Church is one of the oldest religious institutions in South Amboy. Some of the vestry members are also members of the Historical Society which is where the partnership formed. The Historical Society is currently working with the Church and its Cemetery to digitize records dating back to 1856. With the help of a grant from Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage Commission, a donation from the Church and one of its members, as well as money raised from the popular Historic Cemetery Tour, the project is well on its way and will be a resource for the Church, the Society and the community.
